Midlands Medical Wellness Center LLC has served Columbia, SC since 2007, focusing on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for men and women experiencing symptoms of hormonal decline. Under the direction of Dr. Rhoe, the clinic addresses conditions including andropause, menopause, perimenopause, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, and metabolic disorders through individualized hormone optimization protocols. The practice combines laboratory analysis with clinical assessment to develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's hormonal profile and health objectives.
The clinic's bio-identical hormone replacement therapy utilizes hormones structurally identical to those naturally produced by the human body, including estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and thyroid hormones. Dr. Rhoe prescribes these hormones in customized dosages based on comprehensive hormone panels that measure total and free hormone levels, along with metabolites and binding proteins. For men experiencing low testosterone, the center offers testosterone replacement therapy through multiple delivery methods including injections, topical creams, and pellet implants. Women's health protocols address estrogen dominance, progesterone deficiency, and the hormonal shifts of perimenopause and menopause using bio-identical estradiol and progesterone in forms selected for optimal absorption and symptom relief. The clinic also treats thyroid conditions with both synthetic and natural desiccated thyroid preparations when indicated by laboratory values and clinical presentation.
Dr. Rhoe brings clinical experience in functional and regenerative medicine to hormone optimization, emphasizing the interconnection between hormonal balance, metabolic health, cardiovascular function, and cognitive performance. The treatment approach begins with detailed patient history, physical examination, and laboratory testing that extends beyond basic hormone levels to include metabolic markers, inflammatory markers, nutrient status, and cardiovascular risk factors. This comprehensive assessment informs treatment decisions and allows the clinic to address underlying factors contributing to hormonal imbalance, such as insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, and stress-related cortisol dysregulation. Follow-up protocols include regular monitoring of hormone levels and symptom response, with dosage adjustments made based on both objective laboratory data and subjective patient feedback.
Patients at Midlands Medical Wellness Center LLC can expect an initial consultation lasting 60 to 90 minutes, during which Dr. Rhoe reviews medical history, current symptoms, previous treatments, and health goals. Laboratory testing is ordered following this consultation, with results typically reviewed within one to two weeks. Once hormone replacement therapy begins, patients return for follow-up visits at intervals determined by their treatment protocol and response, generally at three months, six months, and annually thereafter. The Columbia clinic provides ongoing support for patients adjusting to hormone therapy, with staff available to address questions about dosing, administration techniques, and side effect management. The practice maintains a patient-centered approach that prioritizes education about hormonal physiology, treatment options, and lifestyle factors that influence hormone balance.
Midlands Medical Wellness Center LLC serves patients throughout the Columbia metropolitan area and surrounding communities in South Carolina's Midlands region. The clinic's nearly two decades of operation in Columbia reflects sustained commitment to hormone optimization and wellness medicine in the local community. Dr. Rhoe's practice model emphasizes long-term patient relationships and continuity of care, with treatment plans designed to evolve as patients age and their hormonal needs change. The clinic accepts consultations for both established patients seeking hormone optimization and new patients exploring bio-identical hormone replacement therapy as a treatment option for symptoms affecting their quality of life, work performance, or physical vitality.

Physician
Growing up in Anderson, SC, I was 11 years old when I decided to become a physician. I stood in the hospital with my mother and watched her watch the woman who raised her struggle against the ravages of breast cancer. I decided then that I wanted to be a physician who made sure my actions showed how much I cared for my patients. On my quest to becoming a board-certified physician, I received the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, earned my doctor of medicine degree at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, and completed my family medicine residency training at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have enjoyed working in both rural and urban communities as well as internationally in the countries of Ghana, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. I have treated patients for multiple medical problems, including acute illnesses, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, COPD, HIV. Of special interest, are patients who have fibromyalgia and autoimmune conditions. However, when I learned about bioidentical hormone replacement, I knew there was still more I could offer my patients, so I established Midlands Medical Wellness Center, LLC in 2007.
