Oak Hills Med Spa and Wellness Center has served Tyler, Texas since 2011 as a physician-led facility combining aesthetic medicine with functional wellness programs. Under the medical direction of Dr. Hope Short, a board-certified family medicine physician and member of the Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, Smith County Medical Society, and American Academy of Family Physicians, the clinic addresses both cosmetic concerns and underlying metabolic health through evidence-based protocols. Dr. Short's dual focus on family medicine and aesthetic wellness allows the practice to treat patients comprehensively, evaluating hormonal balance, nutritional deficiencies, and metabolic function alongside cosmetic goals.
The clinic's peptide therapy program centers on semaglutide for medical weight management, prescribed as part of a structured program that includes nutritional counseling, fitness guidance, and ongoing metabolic monitoring. Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist peptide, works by regulating appetite and glucose metabolism, and at Oak Hills it is integrated into personalized weight-loss protocols rather than offered as a standalone injection. Patients receive baseline metabolic assessments, body composition analysis, and individualized nutrition plans designed to support sustainable fat loss while preserving lean muscle mass. The clinic's approach emphasizes education about insulin sensitivity, macronutrient timing, and lifestyle modifications that extend beyond the peptide prescription itself.
Dr. Short's background in family medicine informs the clinic's patient-centered methodology, which prioritizes safety screening, contraindication assessment, and realistic goal-setting before initiating any peptide or aesthetic treatment. New patients undergo comprehensive consultations that review medical history, current medications, metabolic markers, and aesthetic objectives to determine appropriate candidacy for semaglutide therapy. The clinic monitors patients throughout treatment with regular follow-ups to adjust dosing, address side effects, and modify nutrition or fitness plans as body composition changes. This physician-supervised model ensures that peptide therapy remains medically appropriate and aligned with each patient's broader health profile.
In-person consultations at the Tyler location allow Dr. Short and her clinical team to perform hands-on assessments, review lab work, and demonstrate injection techniques for patients administering semaglutide at home. The clinic's aesthetic services—including neurotoxin injections, dermal fillers, laser treatments, and medical-grade facials—are often combined with wellness programs, as many patients pursuing weight management also seek skin rejuvenation or body contouring. This integrated model means patients can address metabolic health, hormonal balance, and aesthetic concerns within a single treatment plan, reducing the need to coordinate care across multiple providers.
Oak Hills Med Spa and Wellness Center operates exclusively through in-person visits, requiring patients to travel to the Tyler facility for initial consultations, follow-up appointments, and treatment administration. This hands-on approach supports the clinic's emphasis on thorough medical oversight and allows the team to build long-term relationships with patients as their health and aesthetic goals evolve. For East Texas residents seeking physician-supervised peptide therapy within a wellness-focused practice that addresses nutrition, fitness, and metabolic health alongside cosmetic treatments, Oak Hills provides a medically grounded alternative to retail weight-loss programs or aesthetics-only med spas.
